New photo campaign to show the world that we are all human – our differences make us that way. If you’re blinded by labels, you’re missing out on good people.

Mission

To show the world that our differences are what make us human, and we need to accept everyone for who they are. ‘Labels’ are put on people unfairly, and if you’re blinded by those labels, you may be missing out on getting to know some amazing people.
To raise awareness about the tragic consequences of bullying. Bullying can happen in any age group, so communities and schools must be educated on the resources available to them in order to take action against bullying.
To empower people to embrace their own labels and who they are. Labels are always going to be put on people. The way we overcome and/or embrace those labels is what truly matters.

Company Overview

The idea was originally founded in June of 2012, but January 2013 was when the campaign was officially put together. The idea was formed by founder, Ashley, and co-founder, Tanya after they had heard news stories about a lot of lives lost due to bullying and hate.

“I had heard all these news stories about young lives being lost due to being bullied, and I just couldn’t sit back and do nothing about it. It’s something that’s become a growing problem in recent years, especially due to the increase of internet and computer use, which has lead to a huge increase in the amount of cyber bullying. I want to show everyone that our uniqueness is what makes us all beautiful. We should love each other, not hate.”

“I was bullied when I was in high school. In fact, most of my high school knew me by a nickname that was given to me as a really bad joke. The name made me cry every night when I got home because it really bothered me. It was horrible for my self-esteem, and it made me not want to go to school at all. I would cry every morning to my mom to try and get her not to send me to school. I was getting pushed down stairs. I even had a girl walk on my heels during laps in gym class – it was so bad that I still to this day have scars from where I got blisters from her walking on my heels. I do not want others to deal with what I did. I want to show the world that hate and bullying are horrible things that have horrible effects on people. It took me a long time to realize how beautiful I really am – even though people did, at one point, call me Dogface.”

Tony was brought in in late 2013 as Marketing Director. He had volunteered his time to help out Ashley and her campaign, but after helping with a few events, the team thought he was a great asset to the team.

In 2013, a lot of changes were made within the campaign team. The co-founder, Tanya, the event coordinator, Amy, and the second staff photographer all left the team due to creative differences. The remaining team members wish them all the best of luck!

The Photos

All the photos have the same basic look and idea to them, but with the person’s personality thrown in. The campaign logo will be added to your photo before it’s released online. You are able to put your own personality into your photo and make it your own when you’re getting your photo taken.

All persons getting a photo taken for the campaign will be required to sign a release form before stepping in front of the camera. It gives the campaign permission to use their photo on the website, social media websites, for advertising purposes, etc. You will also get a copy sent to your email if you leave an email address on your form.

Labels are provided by the campaign, along with the marker to write your word on them. There will be labels with a few different words on them that are pre-chosen by the campaign team members. You are welcome to choose from one of those to use in your photo, but you are also more than welcome to come up with your own to have written on a different label.

Here are a few of the photos that we have done so far –
